Wisteria Cottage - Wells Next The Sea - North Norfolk Coast

What our guests say....2017 and 2018

All visitor comments listed and are verbatim.

Our sixth visit to this wonderful Cottage and we still love everything as if it's our first visit. It feels like we are coming home as we know Wisteria and Wells so much now. We brought our fold up bikes and did some cycling, but still managed to clock up over fifty miles in walking. The 'Lookout' at Holkhams excellent, we visited there three times, peaceful, uncomplicated and you can get decent drinks there. We missed the red deer at Holkham. The Crown served us well, as did Bang and Plattens. Unfortunately Seasons was shut. We had very cold weather but it didn't stop us. Thanks again to Vivienne and Kevin, Wisteria is a truly special place, luxury and relaxing!. We will be back, we wouldn't change anything! -  Ian and Carol London

Thank you for letting us have your beautiful Cottage. All the Christmas touches exceptional. Lovely quiet peaceful restful weekend. Thank you. John, Adele, Julie and Chris.

Well what can we add to the fantastic comments . Its a beautiful place and such a great garden . We will definitely be returning . It was an added bonus arriving on the 'Wells Tide Festival' weekend. Just perfect. Well done V and K. Carole and Andrew. Cornwall

We've thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your lovely cottage and gardens. We especially like to read about the restoration and see the photos of your family. What a special place , beautifully presented and much loved. A real treat to be here. Jenny, Steve, Robert and Thomas Hertfordshire

A great week. Our aim was to walk the 47 miles of the North Norfolk coast path and with excellent weather we completed it in five days. The Cottage was ideal and the bus service excellent. We enjoyed this lovely garden and had drinks on the patio at the end of the day. We ate at Wells Crab House, The Globe, Ollies and had fish and chips from Frenchs. Good service and excellent food. The Sunday roast at The Bowling Green was also good. We had a day at Holkham Hall - a wonderful managed estate. We had never been to Norfolk before as we are mountain people but hope to return to discover more of the County. Thank you for the lovely Cottage. Ann and John. Cheshire

Lots of walking. Very relaxing stay. Lovely Cottage'small but beatifully formed' (Eric Morcambe). Thank you. Victoria and Peter Cambridge.

Booked by my friend - she couldn't have done better, wonderful walking, places to visit, places good eating the HOME to a cosy cottage.Thank you. What a lovely homely Cottage with everything that we could possibly need even down to the hairdryer!!! Relived some wonderful childhood adventures - made me quite nostalgic for Norfolk. Finished off Thursday evening with King Lear at The Maltings - perfection. Thank you. Jenny and Val Oxfordshire

Comfortable Cottage, close to the town and harbour. Was a bit worried about road noise, in fact didn't hear the road at all in the bedroom! I think another shower room would be useful and perhaps two single beds in one of the double bedrooms. But I had a lovely time. The garden is the icing on the cake. Thank Christine. Oxfordshire

Owners comment It would be lovely to have another shower room in the ideal world, but 'Wisteria Cottage' is a Grade 2 listed property and we tried to make the best of what we had.

We have had a lovely time here, the Cottage is absolutely lovely and very homely. All the extra touches are very much appreciated. We will be back! Jo and Andrew Berkshire

Yet another Christmastide in Wells! As usual lovely, lovely, lovely, long may this family tradition last....... Jen, Shell and Steve Grantham and Melton Mowbray.

Our fifth visit and still excited about being here! We have had the most amazing week. We never get tired of walking down the Quay and to see the seals on the beach. We were hoping for snow but we only had a few flurries which didn't settle. We have walked many miles and have loved coming back to Wisteria. We can highly recommend The Crown for Sunday lunch and have discovered a new restaurant, 'Seasons' is outstanding. We visited 'The Globe' for dinner but were very disappointed. We are so sad to leave but know we will be back. Thank you to Vivienne and Kevin for the warm welcome and goodies. Carol and Ian London

Thank you Vivienne and Kevin. We have had the most wonderful time. We have walked and walked and walked. This year we ventured further afield, we walked to Blakeney and from Brancaster. The weather has been kind to us, only a few snow fluries. We have enjoyed the good food at 'The Crown', The Albatros and The Golden Fleece' we had a forgettable lunch at 'The Victoria'. In between hikes we have totally relaxed in your wonderful Cottage. Ian leaves a year older. We will be back without a doubt. Ian and Carol Essex.

We’ve had a lovely 2 week holiday here, with more walks than our feet care to remember!. The walk from Cley to Blakeney was fab, boat trip at Hickling Broad nature reserve was brilliant. East Ruston Old Vicarage garden amazing. Holkham Beach at low tide beautiful. Didn’t eat out much but can highly recommend the treacle cured bacon from Howells and beef and ale and chicken and ham pies from Walsingham Farm Shop. This is our second visit to Wisteria Cottage and it is as lovely as lovely as we remembered. It is a fantastic base to explore the North Norfolk coast. Great pubs in the town. The Bowling Green, The Globe and a new discovery, The Golden Fleece opposite the harbour. So many great things to see and do, then chill and relax here. Thank you. Darren, Tracey and Joshua Leeds.

First visit to Norfolk and Wisteria Cottage – wow Auntie Jean would have been very proud at what you’ve both achieved – your hard work has definitely paid off!. We’ve enjoyed sitting in the garden. Great meals at The Globe on the Buttlands and an excellent seal watching trip from Morston Quay. Good fun hiring bikes at Holkham Hall!. Thank you. Pete and Alison Cheshire.

What a joy to return to Wisteria Cottage and to have two weeks of glorious sunshine. Just relaxing in the garden. Thank you Vivienne and Kevin. David, Janice and Sara Buckinghamshire.

Not so much a holiday cottage but more of a home to base your holiday from. Thanks for letting us share your home. BBQ’s in the garden and stolen apples for a crumble. What more can you ask. But there is more. All around here is much more. We did enjoy ourselves. Anne, Dave, Liz and Jerry Suffolk.

Our first visit and hopefully not our last, A wonderful comfortable stay in a beautiful cottage. We have enjoyed living there and visiting some interesting places in the great North Norfolk area. Graham and Trish Leicestershire.

After having read through the comments in this book I can endorse everyone. It has been our first visit to Norfolk and it has been a revelation. Very repetitive I know - but another fantastic few days in our second home!. More restricted because of the crutches but still managed a few thousand hops around Holkham and the hot cobbler in the Bowling Green. The sea is so inviting that next time it has to be in the Summer so we can go for a swim!!. Many thanks V and K xx Steve, Jill, Deb and Mike. Felixstowe.
Second visit - five year gap -accommodation every bit as good as when we came in January 2012 and even better - attention to detail says it all for Vivienne and Kevin's Cottage. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will revisit again whilst spreading the word to friends. Sue and Steve. Suffolk.

I LOVE IT HERE! THEY LOVED IT HERE! The very moment I walk in your Cottage I feel relaxed and Claire and Wayne said the same. We had the best time together, eating, walking, drinking (even managed a boat trip this visit!). I will continue to come to this lovely Cottage (if I may) for the forseeable future. Now I think? with my ever expanding family. Thank you both once again. Jenny, Claire and Wayne. Melon Mowbray. Our very first stay in Norfolk, we had amazing sunshine most days. Wisteria Cottage is so comfortable, we felt at home instantly and love the pictures, photographs and books about Norfolk. Our only disappointment was, if only we had booked two weeks. So much more to see and Malcolm and I love to return to Wells next the Sea, many, many more times, especially to walk a few more miles along the coastline. Some of our favourite meals have been at the 'Crown Hotel' Buttlands round the corner. The Crown Inn and Wiveton Bell, others we leave for each to gain their own experience. Wells indeed is our favourite town and I love the countryside of churches and quirky old flintstone cottages, one never gets bored of looking. A wonderful week, no TV, no phone calls and only a little 'peep' on ipad to check weather and pub locations. Thank you Vivienne and Kevin - It's great. Stephanie and Malcolm. Haywards Heath West Sussex

Another lovely and restful holiday - it was good to see you both again. The Cottage was an oasis in the windy conditions, could not hear it at all. Thank you for the use of your wonderful Cottage again. Janice, David and Sara. Stokenchurch Buckinghamshire.

We had a wonderful time in Wells. The Cottage is delightful. Great shower. All the little extras were very much appreciated. Hope to return soon. Loved Wells and weather very kind. Lots of walking and walking and walking!. Loved the garden. Fish lovers with both the Crab House and Seasons being exceptional. We also found the Bowling Green opposite very friendly and good value when you have walked yourself into the ground!!. Brenda and Mike. Preston.

Many thanks for allowing to visit at short notice. Everything worked out perfectly. The Cottage is a credit to you both and contains a lot of family history and memories. We love North Norfolk and Wells is certainly one of the very best locations along the coast. Had an interesting week, visited Holkham Hall, Blickling Hall (NT) and Sandringham all good days out. Took the light railway to Walsingham and was pleasantly surprised. Visited Burnham (up) Marketand our favourite village Holt. Filled the week easily. By the way just one complaint - several lumps on my head!!! -forgot to duck in the toilet/bathroom. Bill and Joan. Manchester.
